about

A little Christmas gift from the Poacher family. The Drunken Poachers have been hiding away putting together our debut album at Captain B studios. We are well on the way but won't have it ready till early 2017. So we thought we would give you all a taste of what we have been up to, FOR FREE!!!! Here is a song titled "We gave it a nudge". A song written about good mates at this time of year, when the party life has started to get the better of you. We hope you enjoy it and get ready for some new Poacher tunes in the new year!

lyrics

Well I was just a young man
you miss-heard my name
we spent late nights together
we helped sooth the pain
we drank bourbon, smoked cigarettes
and we sang through the night
It was just the beginning of two friends for life

Was life in the fast lane
The wheels falling off
But don't worry baby
Because we've had enough

We pulled up to Meredith
with one thing in mind
we were loaded up and ready
to dust off the grind
yeah we swam through an ocean
of children with knives
we were two friends retired
from the time of our lives

Was life in the fast lane
The wheels falling off
But don't worry baby
Because we've had enough

Well it was New Years on the West coast
and we were hiding out
from a world trying to break us
our families had doubts
yeah we rolled over cliff tops
we phoned in a friend
do you remember she told us
she thought we were dead

Was life in the fast lane
The wheels falling off
But don't worry baby
Because we've had enough

about

The Drunken Poachers Melbourne, Australia

The Drunken Poachers, with their wily ways and wooden instruments, have snuck boot-clad and boozed onto Melbourne’s live music stages. A dubious septet not to be trusted, they poach the tunes of others and after a white-wash of their brand of Irish-blue-grass-country, they declare what never belonged to them, their own. Banjo, gee-tah, ukulele, mandolin, Irish fiddle, uke bass, lagerphone. X ... more
